Electrical Services – Inspections and Testing
The potential dangers to premises, employees and contractors from faulty electrical installations include fire and electrical shock.
It is a fact that electrical installations deteriorate over time and poorly conducted repairs, additions and ‘improvements’ can also seriously compromise their safety.
Legislation requires all electrical systems to be maintained at all times so as to prevent danger. Periodic inspection and testing examines the extent to which an installation conforms to BS7671 and identifies improvements required. The legal requirements in the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 states that:
- All systems shall at all times be of such construction as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, danger
- All systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger
- Every work activity…shall be carried out in such a manner as not to give rise, so far as is reasonably practicable, to danger
- Any equipment provided under these Regulations for the purpose of protecting persons at work on or near electrical equipment shall be suitable for the use which it is provided”
Our electrical services can support your health & safety programme by providing the following:
- Periodic Inspection and Testing
- Electrical Risk Assessment
- Visual Inspection
- Thermographic Imaging Surveys
Nearly a quarter of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable or transportable equipment with the majority of these accidents resulting in an electric shock. Electricity at work regulations means that employers must ensure that all electrical work equipment is safe, suitable for the purpose and properly maintained in good order.
Aegis Support Services offer a national service in the self delivery of Portable Appliance Testing (PAT). We ensure that all portable and transportable equipment is PA tested regularly at a frequency applicable to the customer’s site and will advise on any associated risk. To eliminate any concern about appliances being out of date we will schedule sites when a test is due on a year on year basis.
Importantly all our engineers are trained to the appropriate regulatory standards and are fully CRB checked.

Fire and Security Systems
Your fire prevention and business security systems are part of your building’s life support system; we’ll make sure they keep you safe.
By using accredited fire prevention officers, our fire and security team can integrate fire prevention, detection, and suppression with your security equipment, including fire detectors, fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinkler systems, air sampling, gas suppression, wet and dry risers, hose reels, intruder alarms, access control, and CCTV. We can make all these things work seamlessly together, from design, installation and testing, through to commissioning and maintenance.
We only use contractors who are accredited to SSAIB, the specialist certification body, for all our work. Our fire prevention service protects some of the most safety-critical environments in the country, and our business security systems safeguard major organisations and sensitive premises throughout the UK.
We all take lighting for granted but it affects every aspect of our daily lives. It creates ambience, influences mood, and even impacts productivity – so getting it right is important. Commercial lighting also accounts for up to 40% of the energy cost in some office buildings, so selecting the right lamps and lighting technologies is critical to controlling your budget.
We’re also working with the world’s leading ‘Grade A’ lighting manufacturers to introduce the latest future-proof energy efficient technology, including LED lighting. Our commercial LED lighting service is fast, efficient, and flexible. We can deliver from Scotland to Cornwall to the same specified standard, ensuring consistency, accountability, and value for money. Our 24/7 customer service centre coordinates everything for you, providing you with up-to-date data and updates on the progress of our work.
